Frontline Educators - Welcome!
Frontline nutrition educators are the heart of FNEC programs. This position is the direct connection between people and information which can be used to improve the lives of themselves and their family.
Navigating for Success
Frontline staff engage in Navigating for Success, an intensive new staff training, which introduces them to the dialogue approach to learning, the method by which nutrition education is offered in New York State. Through NFS and additional professional development opportunities offered at the state, regional, and local levels, frontline staff are prepared for the responsibilities of their position.
Access to the Data
As you will be exposed to sensitive, confidential information regarding program participants, it is required that you take and pass the Cornell University Human Subjects tutorial. This tutorial and complementing assessment of knowledge, is provided online at Cornell University's Office of Integrity and Assurance. Once this has been completed, please forward the results, forwarded from the program to your email address, to us at fnec-admin@cornell.edu.
The Forms
Frontline staff use a variety of forms to collect and report information regarding your activities. Each form assists you in reporting on a specific task or activity associated with the role you play within your county.

The FNEC Policy and Procedure Manual
Frontline staff are expected to be familiar with the FNEC Policy and Procedure Manual, sections 300 and 500. In addition, section 700, will be important if you are going to be working with youth. These policies assist you in understanding the expectations of your positions. It will be important that you become familiar with your county policies and procedures, as well.
The Reporting Schedule
The forms which you use to report on your activities are entered into a County Reporting System (CRS5) database. These databases are submitted to Cornell University on the 10th day of the month following the end of the quarter. Therefore, quarterly CRS5 submissions occur January 10th, April 10th, July 10th, and October 10th. It is very important that all of your paperwork be submitted to your data entry staff person on a timely basis, such that s/he is able to submit the reports on the expected schedule.
