Senior FMNP

New York WIC FMNP grant amount for 2005 was $4,452,384 In the year 2005, there were 412,317 WIC FMNP participants In the year 2005, the season benefit level for WIC FMNP was $24 In the year 2005, there were 901 NY Farmers participating in WIC FMNP In the year 2005, there were 325 NY Farmers Markets participating in WIC FMNP WIC FMNP received $3,872,601 for 2006 More than 260,000 New York WIC families are expected to receive $24 in New York State Farmers' Market Checks (twelve $2 vouchers). The Department partners with the New York State Department of Health in administrating the FMNP. Cornell Cooperative Extension  provides hands-on nutrition education information in fruit and vegetable selection and preparation.

New York Senior FMNP grant amount for 2006 was $1,442,159 In the year 2006, there were 86,738 Senior FMNP participants In the year 2006, the season benefit level for Senior FMNP was $20 In the year 2006, there were 910 NY Farmers participating in Senior FMNP In the year 2006, there were 350 NY Farmers Markets participating in SFMNP SFMNP received $1,457,900 for 2006 Recipients will receive $20 worth of farmers' market checks (ten $2 vouchers). SFMNP is administered by the Department, in conjunction with the State Office for the Aging, and the New York State Department of Health. Senior citizens interested in the SFMNP should contact their local Office for the Aging or call the New York State Senior Hotline at 1-800-342-9871.

• New York State has approximately 250 farmers' markets and 800 farmers enrolled in the FMNP, which is the largest combined program in the country.

• In 2006, participating markets in New York collected more than $4.5 million in farmers' market vouchers.
